Double Trouble

In the photograph Serge Tchuruk (Chairman & CEO Alcatel) and Pat Russo (Chairperson and CEO Lucent Technologies)

As I discussed about merger between Lucent and Alcatel in my earlier posting, the merger has finally been announced. It happened on Apr 3, 2006. It is a US$ 36B deal, creating a company with US$ 25B revenue per year with 88K employees.

It's like two giants coming together to shake the earth of datacom industry. Shaking the earth also includes lay-offs of 8800 odd employees across the globe. For full merger story go through this link:

In my humble opinion RiverStone Networks is like a sizzling sauce in Alcatel's plate which Lucent - the shef has served to her and Alcatel is going to enjoy having the sauce with her french fries.

The only thing which is clear right_now is 'nothing is clear'. Nobody knows what's going to happen 6 months down the line. Right here, right now, what everybody can do is just to anticipate positive or negative. Unfortunately in lack of proper guidence anticipation most of the times do go negative, at least for most of the individuals; and leading to the extent of panic. The problem becomes worse when individual's opinion affects mass.
