Vivaah - A sweet fairy tale

I watched Vivah after a lot of critics about the same, saying it has an outdated story, not realistic, lacking the performances etc. Now here is what I obsserved.

Story line: If arranged marriage is an outdated concept for the people, then I am afraid we are not on the right track. But, if you think arranged marriage is still an option, then most likely you are going to appreciate the movie. Even today, most of the marriages are arranged only. Well, the story is nothing special, no suspence, not many twists also. It is more like a story of old doordarshan serials, if you have watched. As told in movie’s caption it is story between engagement and marriage, those beautiful and unforgettable moments of everybody’s life. The movie’s plot is it’s strength. Some places it also sounds unrealistic, but I feel that’s OK as this is a movie.

Cast Performance:
The father-in-laws are typical RajShree Group choice, Anupam Kher and Alok Naath. As expected they have done justice to their role. Amrita has looked a sofisticated beauty in movie except a few scenes. Shahid kapoor has done a decent job. The tum-bin girl chhoti has done pretty well, thugh the black colour painted on her was clearly visible in a few scenes. Alok Nath’s wife in the movie has also lived her role upto the expections. Shahid Kapoor’s Bhabhi in movie has also done reasonably good.

Sound Track: Typical Ravindra Jain music. Mujhe Haq hai and Do Anjaane are already hit. I like "Radhe Kishan" also. Soft, desi music, which I miss a lot in most of the movies. Shreya goshal’s voice has given real melodious touch. Suresh Wadekar has also sung one sweet lori.

Cinemetography: Shooting done completely in India, so you miss the foreigen location (typical Mr Johar’s style). But still the film manages to attract the viewers for the whole duration.

Summary: We have hundreds of movies hitting the screens every year, but how many movies can we comfortabely watch with whole family (let e clarify here, by family I mean parents also. Not only wife and small kid). But Vivaah is like pleasant gift. You find enough sex comdies, action/phycho thrillers, excessively abusive language films in the name of reality but very few family movies. It is a must watch for the people who got engaged recently, going to be engaged soon, going to marry soon or just married.
